Ways to save more centavos!

As a youngster I always saved every centavo (penny) I could.

I had an old aluminum red colored jar that I had found that I used as my bank.

Looking back there weren't too many ways for me to save much money but somehow I managed to.

Now a days there are many simple ways I have found to save money.

Have you asked yourself, maybe you just WANT too much?

There is nothing wrong with trying to save money -

especially if you have something special coming up and

or just trying to live within your means.

First set your sights on a more budget conscious lifestyle.

I would begin at the top - if you have a big house, get a smaller one or an efficiency apt if you have a large condo.

The smaller the sqaure footage the lower the cost less to maintain - less to heat and cool etc..

Sell off anything you haven't used in 2 years or that you've been collecting.

Sell any jewelry or watches you never use.

Sell off the antiques and or collectibles that are boxed up in the attic.

Have a HUGE garage sale or sales.

Make someones day - think "My trash is someone's treasure."

Sell the old truck or SUV, do you really need it in the city?

I have also read that you can lower the temp on the water heater and clothes come out just as clean.

I've raise the max. deductibles on all our insurance policies.

Wash your clothes in cold water instead of hot water.

If you smoke what about giving up cigarettes or cigars, a pack a day is now costing you $2,190.00 a year!

Give up the booze.

Yes, do you really need to go out and buy liquor (except on special occassions of course).

If you have a habit of buying the lotto tickets, quit.

Stop the news paper or magazine deliveries.

Buy a low end cell phone.

Quit the high end cell phone texting plan.

Do you really need cable?

You don't need premium channels.

Change the oil at 3000 miles (7.5 to 10k is fine).

Stop going out to eat as often.

Quit going out to movies and rent some occassionally..

Stay away from the malls unless you are just using them to exercise in.
Quit speeding, tickets are expensive and will destroy your budget in a hurry.

Quit buying the latest gadgets.

Cancel trips to Starbucks.
Buy local grocery coffee instead.

These are things that I am working on (they are not for everyone).

But I am looking to have more money to be able to take a special trip soon.

It's all about learn to really enjoy life.

Go for a walk.

Take a long hike.

Take in the arts.

We recently went to the local museum.

Don't leave out a trip to the library.

There are a lot of things you can do that are free or cost very little.

I am sure that your town or city has many FREE summer and fall concerts and other free events throughout the year.

Let me know how much money you saved.

Make it a thrifty kind of día!
